More control in the theme editor and a dedicated gift card page

Header, footer and overlay sections and alternate templates in the theme editor

On themes that build their header and footer from sections, such as Meridian, the theme editor's outline now lists the sections of the header, the footer and the overlays (cart drawer, search, mobile menu) on every page. Click one to edit it, reorder or remove sections in that group, or add new ones; your changes are saved as a draft and go live when you publish. Product, collection, page and blog post templates now have a template switcher next to the page type: open one of the theme's own templates, such as Meridian's quick-view product template, customise it (the theme's version stays live until you publish), or create a new template as a copy of the one on screen. Theme templates can also be assigned to a product, collection, page or blog post, and a customised theme template can be reset to the theme's version.

Theme styles in the theme editor, a gift card page, and more theme controls

Themes that ship several looks, such as Meridian's Default, Bold and Minimal, now show a "Theme style" picker at the top of the theme settings. Pick one to restyle your draft in one click: its colours, fonts and layout replace the current ones, while your logo, texts and links stay. Publish when you like the result. Gift card emails now link to a page where the recipient sees the code, balance and expiry date. The theme editor also gained controls for numbers, collection lists, pages, blog posts, one-line rich text and YouTube or Vimeo links, plus the headings and help texts themes add to their settings.
